Anxiety
I can help reduce anxiety and panicky feelings, using both cognitive behavioral therapy and relaxation techniques, including biofeedback.
Depression
I treat depression with a cognitive behavioral treatment orientation. In cooperation with your physician, I develop and monitor a medication treatment plan when appropriate.
Trauma and PTSD
I have a wide range of experience treating trauma and PTSD, including experience with military and post-military situations. My treatment includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, plus hypnosis and exposure desensitization therapy where appropriate.
Coping with physical issues
I can help you deal with pain management and other physical difficulties, including IBS, insomnia, and chronic headaches. I also offer effective help with smoking cessation. I have a post-doctoral certificate in Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback for Psycho-Physiological Disorders.
Sleep
I offer effective help for a wide range of sleep disorders. I am Board-Certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine.
Mental health medication services
I can help coordinate your psychotherapy medication along with your healthcare team:
- initiating medication
- tapering off medication
- assessing effective medication strategies
Working in coordination with your physician, I have consulting privileges for mental health medications, and can design, implement, and monitor a drug (medication) component for your treatment plan. When appropriate, combining the talk therapy and drug aspects of mental health treatment often can optimize the overall effectiveness of your treatment, meaning that you’ll be able to reach your goals sooner.
